Early Bird Registrations Now Open!
2025 National Landcare Conference Landcare: Nature, Agriculture, Land and People Positive
The 2025 National Landcare Conference will be hosted at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland from Sunday, 21 September to Wednesday, 24 September 2025. Early Bird registrations are now open, offering you a chance to secure your ticket at a discounted rate.
In January, tickets will go on sale for the First Nations Landcare Gathering and the NextGen Landcare Summit, which will be hosted on Sunday 21 September. In early 2025 we will unveil the 2025 National Landcare Conference Program, which includes keynote speakers, special events, and the popular field trip program.
If you are interested in speaking at the 2025 National Landcare Conference, the Call for Abstracts campaign will open in January. If you are interested in getting involved as a sponsor or exhibitor, please contact us for the Sponsorship Prospectus.

Bupa Landcare Grant Recipients
Congratulations to the 32 groups and organisations awarded funding through the 2024 Bupa Landcare Grants Program!
This initiative celebrates Bupa’s ‘Healthy Cities Challenge’ by supporting community-led projects to plant a total of 82,500 native trees, shrubs and groundcovers in urban and peri-urban areas across Australia.
The funded projects will focus on planting locally endemic trees and shrubs, enhancing native vegetation connectivity, and creating new green spaces in urban areas. These efforts also contribute to community wellbeing by providing healthier, greener spaces for people to enjoy.

CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY FOR LANDCARE GROUPS
Landcare Australia has announced the 26 recipients of the 2024 Landcare Australia Community Grants Program, with $300,000 being distributed for environmental volunteers to use in a huge variety of landcare activities.
Each project receives between $5,000 up to $20,000, directing funds right into the heart of grassroots landcare groups across Australia.
This year’s Landcare Australia Community Grants program, launched during Landcare Week coincides with a big milestone for Landcare Australia and landcare as a national movement – its 35th anniversary!
Landcare remains just as relevant today, as it was 35 years ago, continuing its mission to protect and enhance our natural environment and restore landscapes.
Dr Shane Norrish, Landcare Australia CEO said, “The calibre of grant applications was exceptional. I’d like to congratulate the successful groups and look forward to seeing what you achieve with the funding in 2025”.

Time is running out! Nominations for the 2025 Bob Hawke Landcare Award are about to close.
Don’t miss the chance to recognise an individual, group, or organisation showing leadership in landcare and sustainable agriculture.
The winner will receive a $30,000 grant package, including a travel package to the National Landcare Awards gala dinner.
Submit your nomination by Tuesday 31 December 2024 and celebrate the achievements in sustainable agriculture.

Landcare Australia Annual Report for 2023/24
We are very excited to share with you the Landcare Australia Annual Report for 2023/24. Every year, publishing the Annual Report enables us to pause and reflect on our achievements of the past 12 months. Moreover, it also helps us refocus our energies on the critical challenges ahead.
For over 35 years we have supported better management of productive landscapes, championed the restoration of natural areas, fought biodiversity loss and aided natural disaster recovery. This Annual Report provides an insightful snapshot into the great work we do with our partners and the landcare community in restoring Australia’s natural assets.

Nominations for the 2025 General Jeffery Soil Health Award Now Open
Back for its third round in 2025, this uniquely Australian Landcare Award honours the late General Jeffery’s legacy of championing soil health and changing attitudes towards soil sustainability and energised change on farms across Australia.
This prestigious accolade – which includes $20,000 (ex GST) in funding to complete an agreed soils project. The Award celebrates new concepts of soil health and biodiversity through innovative practices, and recognises the work of people, groups and organisations caring for soil health and educating or inspiring others.
Nominations are open until 31 March 2025.

Earlier this month, the Landcare Agriculture Program held a webinar for over 300 people from across Australia, to discuss maximizing ecosystem opportunities for your business.
We hosted an outstanding lineup of speakers with a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience to offer valuable insights into the current landscape of carbon in agriculture.
The webinar provided participants with practical observations and tools to help land managers understand how proactive carbon management can support both environmental impact and business profitability.

WildSeek: Koalas in the Spotlight on ABC!
Just in! ABC interviewed Landcare Australia’s Chief Drone Pilot Katie Selhorst and Lilly Schwartz from the Hills-Hornsby Rural Koala Project about latest data from the WildSeek project, which has confirmed 13 koala sightings across Hornsby and Hills Shire using thermal imagery from drones. These areas suffered devastating population losses after the 2002 bushfires, with no formal population reassessment since. Read more about the findings and how this drone methodology is supporting local citizen science koala projects.
